Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Field Maintenance Engineer to support client sites around Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure equipment operates reliably while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires 4+ years in field service, strong hands-on diagnostics, and the ability to travel within the region. A company vehicle is provided and opportunities for ongoing training are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level technical qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years as a Field Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical controls, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and reading technical schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Queenstown region.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures with minimal downtime.
• Inspect equipment and identify issues; recommend corrective actions.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and software to analyze performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Document maintenance activities in the CMMS and ensure accuracy.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations on client sites.
• Provide technical guidance to junior technicians as needed.
