Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Fiber Optic Network Technician to join our Rustenburg-based team. You will install, maintain, and repair fiber networks for residential and business customers, working in the field with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

The role requires reading diagrams, using fusion splicers and OTDRs, and responding to service calls. A valid driver's license and a track record in fiber optics are essential; training and career growth are supported.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in fiber optics are a plus.
• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician or in a related telecommunications field.
• Proficiency with fiber optic tools and testing equipment (e.g., fusion splicer, OTDR).
• Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, cable management, and network topologies.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical specifications.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record are essential for field service.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables according to industry standards and company procedures.
• Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks using OTDR and other specialized equipment.
• Respond to service calls, diagnose network issues, and perform repairs to restore service promptly.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of fiber optic infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure all work is performed safely, adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation details and test results.
