Placements24 is seeking an Installation Technician in Stellenbosch to deploy and configure fiber optic cables, network hardware, and related equipment for residential and commercial clients. This role emphasizes autonomous fieldwork with focus on high technical standards and reliable connectivity.

The technician will perform site surveys, set up devices, and troubleshoot installation issues while maintaining thorough installation documentation and providing basic customer guidance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Installation Technician in telecom/IT networking.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optics, copper cabling, and network hardware installation.
• Proficiency with cable testing equipment and network diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation manuals.
• Good physical condition and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and network cabling.
• Set up and configure routers, modems, and other network devices.
• Perform site surveys and plan installation routes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues to ensure optimal network performance.
• Provide basic customer support and education on installed systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, including site maps and equipment configurations.
