Job description

Carlyle College is an independent co-ed Pre-Primary, Preparatory and High School located on an established 7-hectare campus, in the beautiful village of Nottingham Road in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

Applications are invited for the position of FET Consumer Studies Teacher

This is a full time, permanent position commencing in Term 1, 2026.

Experience in additional FET and GET subjects will be considered an advantage as well as a willingness to be fully involved in various aspects of school life. This includes a multifaceted extra-curricular programme, pastoral care and the boarding establishment.

The successful candidate would meet the following requirements:

  • A relevant FET Teaching Qualification.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience, preferably at IEB Level.
  • SACE registration.
  • Required Police and Sexual Offenders checks.

The successful applicant would need to possess these qualities:

  • A proven track record of delivering outstanding results.
  • A passion for teaching Consumer Studies and a commitment to pupil success.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and engage effectively with pupils and colleagues.
  • Excellent administrative, planning, budgeting and organising skills.
  • The ability to innovate and skilfully integrate technology into the classroom to enhance the learning experience.
  • Drive a curiosity and passion for learning the subject.
  • Show creativity and innovation in the classroom and in relation to real world application.
  • Be proficient in creating and moderating a variety of different types of assessments.
  • Experience in marking the IEB/NSC will be considered an advantage.
  • A certified copy of your SACE registration
  • A police clearance certificate
  • At least 3 traceable references
