Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. is seeking a senior Metallurgical Plant Manager to direct Tubatse Alloy operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in furnaces, pelletiser and chrome recovery plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably 5 years’ managerial experience in management of Metallurgical plant operations including in‑depth experience in managing overall operations of Smelter operations
• Master’s degree in technical discipline, Business Administration or commercial studies will be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage Tubatse Alloy operations to meet production targets within approved budgets and ensure availability and reliability of furnaces, pelletiser and chrome recovery plant.
• Identify baseline risk exposures and implement control measures to improve safety, quality and environmental performance.
• Drive continuous improvement and Operational Excellence to enhance process efficiency, availability and unit costs.
• Lead performance management and development of smelter teams, including talent discussions and succession planning.
• Plan short- and long-term production and maintenance strategies to sustain production levels and meet corporate objectives.
