️ Technical Maintenance Supervisor – Packhouse & Staff Housing

Location: On-site - Langplaas, Brits

We're seeking a hands-on, technically skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, operation, and optimization of all equipment in our packhouse facility. This role includes managing both a technical team and night-shift cleaning crews, and requires leadership, problem-solving, and a readiness to work outside standard hours when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance (Preventative Focus)

• Install, maintain, and repair:
• Optical sorters
• Overhead weighers and bagging machines
• Industrial scales and baggers (Sennah and weighbridge systems)
• Conveyors and VSD/PLC-controlled equipment (PLC experience a plus)
• Cooling systems (advantageous)
• Solar power systems (inverters, batteries – advantageous)
• Generators
• Diagnose and repair:
• 80% mechanical faults
• 20% electrical faults
• Calibrate measuring equipment and maintain sensors/controllers

Team Management

• Supervise a technical team of 3–6 people
• Oversee the night-shift cleaning crew
• Delegate tasks, plan shifts, monitor performance
• Provide hands-on mentorship and training

Planning & Administration

• Draft and manage technical maintenance budgets
• Control costs and optimize use of parts and consumables
• Monitor attendance and timekeeping
• Manage preventative maintenance schedules
• Maintain job card system accurately
• Report on breakdowns, costs, and equipment condition
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

General Expectations

• Work well under pressure and respond quickly to production interruptions
• Make informed decisions and prioritize breakdowns effectively
• Communicate with suppliers and service providers
• Be actively involved during key production and maintenance times

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Millwright (Red Seal Certificate)
• 3–5 years' experience in a similar role, with team supervision
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Experience with solar systems is a plus
• Proficient with administrative tools (Excel, email, etc.)
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work after hours and night shifts as required
