Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Farm Management, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in managing large-scale agricultural operations.
• Strong knowledge of horticultural practices for a variety of crops.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
• Experience with farm machinery operation, maintenance, and modern farming technologies.
• Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and record-keeping for farm operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and planning abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A valid driver’s license is essential for this role in the Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual operating plans and budgets for various crop types.
• Supervise and manage a team of farm workers, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.
• Oversee the procurement and management of agricultural inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Implement and monitor effective pest, disease, and weed control programs.
• Manage irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage across different crop requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive records of farm activities, yields, inputs, and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on the farm in Paarl, Western Cape.
