You will develop annual farming plans, supervise a diverse workforce, manage equipment and costs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards while driving productivity and sustainable practices.

• Experience as Farm Manager or senior agricultural manager.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and dedicated Farm Manager to oversee operations at their expansive agricultural facility located in George, Western Cape . This role requires a hands‑on leader with a comprehensive understanding of large‑scale farming, crop cultivation, and livestock management. The Farm Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the farm, from planting and harvesting to resource management and team supervision. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility while maintaining essential on‑site presence. You will be instrumental in driving productivity, implementing best practices, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and sustainability are met across all farm activities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual farming plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and harvest strategies.
• Manage all aspects of crop production, including soil preparation, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control.
• Oversee livestock health and welfare programs, if applicable.
• Supervise, train, and motivate a diverse farm workforce, ensuring productivity and safety.
• Manage farm equipment, machinery, and infrastructure, ensuring they are well‑maintained and utilized efficiently.
• Control operational costs and maximize farm profitability through effective resource allocation and strategic decision‑making.
• Maintain accurate records of farm activities, yields, expenses, and inventories.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Implement and monitor sustainable farming practices to conserve natural resources.
• Collaborate with suppliers, agronomists, and other stakeholders to optimize farm operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Farm Manager or in a similar senior agricultural management role.
• A strong understanding of agronomy, crop science, and modern farming techniques relevant to the Western Cape region.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and complex operations.
• Excellent knowledge of farm machinery, irrigation systems, and related equipment.
• Proficiency in farm management software and record‑keeping.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and cost control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• A relevant degree or diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions and market demands.
