Maintenance Supervisor – Farm Infrastructure & Housing

Location: On-site, Langplaas Brits

Are you a technically skilled leader with a passion for agriculture and infrastructure? We’re hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the upkeep and development of farm housing, boreholes, irrigation systems (pivot points), tunnels, and general infrastructure on a large-scale farming operation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance

  • Oversee and repair pumps, electric motors, and control panels
  • Diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
  • Manage construction projects and emergency power (generators)
  • Calibrate and maintain sensors and control systems

General Maintenance

  • Maintain and repair farm housing and infrastructure
  • Oversee minor construction and renovation projects
  • Repairs to roofs, flooring, cement work, and foundations

Team Management

  • Lead a maintenance and construction team of 3 staff members
  • Plan and prioritize work orders and daily tasks
  • Monitor work quality and timelines
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship

Planning & Administration

  • Prepare and manage technical budgets
  • Control costs and optimize usage of parts and materials
  • Track team clock-ins and schedule maintenance activities
  • Maintain accurate job card system
  • Report on breakdowns, costs, and equipment condition
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

On-Call Duties

  • Alternating weekly standby shifts after 17:00 for pump rooms, irrigation systems, and housing emergencies
Requirements
  • Qualified Millwright (Red Seal) or Electrician
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally in agriculture
  • Strong technical skills in pumps, motors, and construction
  • Proven team leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy (Excel, email, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to work after hours and night shifts when needed
