Job summary

Chainlink Recruitment is assisting an established agricultural organisation in Delmas, SA, to recruit a Fitter & Turner for its maintenance team. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on farm equipment and production machinery.

The ideal candidate will have a Trade Tested Fitter & Turner with at least 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in agriculture or food production, and a valid driver's license is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric - essential.
• Trade Tested Fitter & Turner - essential.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with farm machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Agricultural, livestock or food-production experience advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in demanding farm conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and farm machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns.
• Maintain bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, pulleys, gearboxes, pumps and conveyors.
• Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, welding, fabrication, cutting, drilling and grinding where required.
• Maintain livestock handling, feeding and water systems.
• Assist with maintenance of generators, compressors and other supporting equipment.
• Respond to urgent breakdowns affecting farm operations.
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop and comply with health and safety requirements.
