Overview

Farm and Vineyard Maintenance Supervisor. 2025-09-05 - 2025-10-05. Permanent. SW005831. Agriculture. My client, a small certified wine estate located just outside Somerset West, is seeking a skilled and confident individual to take on the role of Farm and Vineyard Maintenance Supervisor. This is a hands-on role requiring broad technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and practical experience in farm and vineyard operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • General maintenance across the farm, including:
    • Electrical work
    • Plumbing
    • Carpentry
    • Vineyard maintenance (including pruning and harvesting for wine production)
  • Troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day operational issues
  • Supervising a small team (approximately 2 staff members)
  • Reporting directly to the farm owner
  • Ensuring compliance with wine industry standards
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in farming and vineyard operations
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Confident, assertive, and capable of managing people effectively
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
  • Valid driver’s licence
Added Advantages
  • Relevant agricultural or Trade qualifications (e.g., electrician, plumber)
  • Experience in winemaking or cellar work
  • Proficient in operating farm machinery and equipment (tractor, forklift, chainsaw, grinder, lawnmower, etc.)
