Job Description:

Farm Manager required for a large-scale avocado and macadamia farm. The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing similar farms, with a strong focus on agricultural or horticultural practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the farm, including irrigation systems, fertilization, and pest control.
• Supervise a team of farmhands, ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining high standards of quality control.
• Maintain accurate records of crop yields, expenses, and staff performance.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve crop production and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality materials and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as environmental sustainability best practices.

Requirements:

• Agricultural or Horticulture qualification (e.g., BSc Agriculture, Diploma in Horticulture).
• At least 5 years of experience in managing an avocado and macadamia farm, with a proven track record of success.
• Nursery experience is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with additional languages such as Afrikaans, Northern Sotho, Sepedi, or Tsonga being beneficial.
• Maintenance skills, including vehicle maintenance, fencing, equipment, and building repairs.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in software relevant to farm management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
• Excellent budget management and financial planning skills.
• Proven people skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
