Howden MEA Projects Division (serving Africa and the Middle East) seeks an experienced Specialist in fan station and ventilation system design. This role involves developing innovative technical solutions and tenders for marketing and sales of turnkey projects, providing ventilation solutions to mining and industrial clients to enhance their infrastructure and development projects.

What will you do?

• Engineering: Engage with customers on application inquiries, perform fan station designs, select fans based on specifications, and prepare comprehensive tender documents. Manage the tender process from opportunity identification to order, ensuring accurate forecasting and customer feedback integration.
• Documentation: Pre-engineer fan system designs, generate fan curves, collaborate with legal and commercial teams to mitigate risks, and prepare project budgets and tender programs within tight timelines.
• Engineering Support: Support during tendering, facilitate collaborative design processes, and incorporate market and engineering trends to optimize costs and designs.
• Project Management: Act as project manager when required, ensuring projects meet standards and deadlines.
• Customer Relations: Build relationships to promote Howden and Chart products, involve customers early in planning, and engage with project teams from clients and partners.
• Managing Tenders: Follow the tender process meticulously, aligning with client specifications and company standards.
• Marketing: Contribute to marketing efforts to convert tenders into sales, following company procedures.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOX controls and internal policies.

Your Experience Should Be…

• Hold a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (B-Tech, B-Eng, or BSC Eng).
• Membership of reputable engineering bodies such as ECSA or SAIMechE is advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Projects, and AutoCAD.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mining or industrial sales environment with expertise in Mine Ventilation Engineering.
• Familiarity with multiple engineering disciplines, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and CFD studies.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of standard contracting methodologies, preferably NEC & FIDIC.
• At least 2 years’ experience in project management or tender preparation.
