Job summary

Tongaat Hulett Sugar - Felixton is seeking a Factory Team Leader to oversee mechanical maintenance in the Factory/Engineering area. You will lead artisans, ensure machine availability, and coordinate with services departments to support production.

Requirements include a minimum N3 Mechanical and Trade Test, completed apprenticeship as Mechanical Fitter, and experience in heavy industry. You will work with discipline and lead teams to deliver safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• N3 Mechanical and Trade Test completed.
• Apprenticeship completed as Mechanical Fitter.
• Maintenance and production experience in heavy industry.
• Dynamic, able to work under pressure and with people at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all machinery under control in good condition.
• Lead and supervise artisans in the Factory section.
• Liaise with services departments regarding required services in the extraction section.
• Initiate purchase requisitions for authorisation by Plant Engineer.
• Ensure 100% availability of machinery in the factory section.
• Maintain tool registers, ensure subordinates have correct PPE and Safe Work Procedures.
• Ensure adherence to SHE procedures (Work permits, toolbox talks, Take 5s, PJOs, etc.).
• Set tasks for subordinates and monitor completion of scheduled maintenance to standard and provide leadership.
• Participate in plant upgrade and project initiatives as directed by the Plant Engineer.

Accountabilities

• To maintain all machinery under his control in good condition.
• To lead and provide mechanical maintenance supervision of artisan in the Factory section.
• To liaise with services departments regarding required services in the extraction section.
• Initiate purchase requisitions for authorisation by Plant Engineer.
• Ensure 100 % availability of machinery in the factory section.
• To ensure that tool registers are kept, subordinates have correct PPE and that Safe Work Procedures are adopted where required.
• To ensure adherence to SHE procedures (Work permits, toolbox talks, Take 5s, PJOs etc.)
