Responsibilities :
- Managing operations within the geographical area of responsibility
- Developing and generating business and increasing profitability
- Implementing business strategy specific to the area of operation, as established by the Head of Department
- Detailing annual business operating plans, and setting quarterly and annual budgets
- Recruiting staff and monitoring performance, with the possibility of training and mentorship
- Conducting sales & marketing activities in respective geographic areas
- Developing client-specific sales strategies to support the sales vision as prescribed by the Head of Department
- Implementing established sales policies, practices, and procedures
- Performing competitor technical product analysis as well as pricing analysis
- Developing and implementing marketing strategies for new market segments
- Ensuring retention and growth of existing clients
- Engaging and collaborating continuously with engineering and production departments
- Packaging proposals/tenders for the mining sector
- Understanding commercial law is advantageous
- Networking with industry professionals and stakeholders in the mining sector
- Attending to commercial contracts, remedies, and negotiations for deviant conditions
- Creating opportunities, negotiating, closing business deals, and maintaining extensive industry and product knowledge
- Supporting existing clients to ensure client retention
- Conducting market analysis, identifying, and promoting the company's sustainable competitive advantages
- Traveling to mines and conducting underground visits to assess problems and determine the suitability of mining machinery for applications
Role Requirements :
- 5 or more years of proven experience as a Business Development Manager
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proven track record in applied engineering
- Product data management experience
- Ability to plan, multi-task, and manage time effectively
- Strong report-writing and record-keeping abilities
- BEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Must list duties, responsibilities, and reasons for leaving at each company on CV
- No criminal record
- Medically fit
