Purpose Of The Position
To control and optimise inventory and rotables and to continuously improve current practices, methods, equipment and processes in a safe manner, to provide the required service levels and reduce inventory costs to the company.
Safety, Health, Environment And Quality
- Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
- Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
- Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
- Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.
People
Manage the Section:
- Ensure an enabling climate/culture
- Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
- Labour complement in line with budget
- Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section
- Manage performance against set targets and competencies
- Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
- Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
- Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
- Conduct recruitment interviews
Customers
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction.
General
BUSINESS PROCESSES:
- Lead the Stores team to provide an efficient warehousing service, ensuring un-interrupted plant operations.
- Maintain and improve stores procedures and controls with the integrated use of SAP/ COUPA
- Investigate abnormal reservations
- Optimise stock holding to improve working capital and to facilitate effective maintenance
- Perform Time and Attendance verifications for the stores department
- Manage Stores equipment (Vehicles, Forklifts, etc.)
- Ensure regular stock counts and reconciliations against ERP system.
Inventory Control
- Manage the Inventory Control / Materials Management processes:
- Quality inspections and control (Binning)
- Ordering
- Receiving
- Issuing
- Safeguarding
- Adequate housekeeping
- Approve daily stock requisitions utilizing the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system
- Management and regular review of minimum & maximum stock levels
- Management and control of stock at holding areas at the Plant (outside Main Store)
- Management and control of Diesel
- Management and control of Critical Spares.
Computer Systems
- Maintain and management of material master data and creation of new materials
- Manage Critical Items (ABC Analysis) - classification and ensure no out of stocks
- Manage Obsolete stocks, write off processes and tender process to sell scrapped stocks
Rotable Stock Management
- Manage rotable process in line with company procedure and standards
- Identify rotable spares and any potential warranty claims
- Optimise rotable stock items and related quality and repair warrantees.
SOP’s
- Review, update and develop SOP’s.
Growth
- Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence.
Minimum Qualifications And Experience
- Degree or National Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting / Supply Chain Management / Logistics Management
- 4 years’ relevant Stores Management experience
