Machine Operator – Extrusion Blow Moulding
Reports to: Shift Leader
Purpose of the Position
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring extrusion blow moulding (EBM) machines and related equipment to ensure that the final product meets all quality requirements in line with company standards and procedures.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
- Operates extrusion blow moulding machines and equipment to produce bottles or containers according to specifications
- Monitors and adjusts machine settings and automatic control devices (e.g., leak tester, deflashing system, vision system, palletizer) to maintain consistent product quality
- Immediately informs the technical department of any mechanical, electrical, or process issues and records outcomes as required
- Assists in technical operations, including colour changes, mould changes, parison adjustments, blade and equipment cleaning, and line set-up
- Packs finished products using the correct packaging materials (e.g., boxes, trays, bags), stacks and labels pallets for storage or dispatch
- Supplies raw materials and packaging to the machine using manual and/or electric forklifts
- Feeds hoppers and loaders with raw material (resin, regrind, additives) as per production requirements
- Conducts in-process product inspections (visual checks, weight checks, dimensional measurements) in line with the product control plan and records results accurately
- Sorts and separates defective or damaged products for recycling or disposal
- Participates in continuous improvement activities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with workplace hygiene and safety standards
- May act as Deputy Shift Leader in their absence, assuming related responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Solid working knowledge of extrusion blow moulding processes and equipment
- Applied knowledge of measuring instruments and product quality checks
- Ability to operate manual and electric forklifts safely
- Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in EBM equipment
- Basic knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles
- Basic understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) rules and practices

Education And Experience
- Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical studies (or equivalent technical qualification)
- Prior experience in extrusion blow moulding operations preferred
