Job description

The External Sales Executive will be responsible for securing tile product specifications in commercial, residential, and hospitality projects by building strong relationships with architects, designers, developers, and contractors. They will promote the company’s tile range, track project lifecycles from design to delivery, and ensure specifications convert into sales. Key tasks include client visits, product presentations, managing a sales pipeline, providing technical support, and participating in industry events. The role requires strong communication skills, technical product knowledge, and a target-driven, self-managed approach.

Responsibilities

1. Building Relationships & Winning Specifications

  • Visiting architects, designers, developers, QS firms, and contractors.
  • Holding product presentations, CPDs, showroom tours, and lunch-and-learns.
  • Securing tile specifications in new building projects (so their product is specified at design phase).

2. Promoting Tile Products

  • Showcasing the company's full tile range to professionals.
  • Explaining product features such as technical performance, slip ratings, and sustainability.
  • Demonstrating samples and product boards to help clients visualize usage in their projects.

3. Project Lifecycle Tracking

  • Following up on building projects from design to procurement to delivery.
  • Liaising with internal teams (like logistics and pricing) to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Making sure specs don’t get substituted by competitors and result in actual sales.

4. Sales Growth & Pipeline Management

  • Managing a territory of accounts and leads.
  • Creating a structured call cycle to ensure consistent client contact.
  • Meeting monthly and quarterly sales targets.

5. Market Awareness & Strategy Input

  • Keeping up with construction trends, new developments, and competitor activity.
  • Reporting on sales performance and sharing ideas with management and marketing.

6. Technical Support

  • Providing advice on installation, maintenance, and spec details.
  • Helping clients with site issues or product concerns.
  • Explaining specs like PEI ratings, rectified edges, etc., in simple terms.

7. Industry Participation

  • Attending trade expos, design events, and networking functions.
  • Hosting showroom and site activations in collaboration with design firms.
