We are seeking an External Sales Representative for a permanent role based in Germiston, Gauteng.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 with good computer literacy (tech savvy) and valid drivers
  • Proven sales track record in the flexible plastics industry market segments
  • 5+ years’ experience in external sales in the flexible plastics packaging industry, more specifically in printed flexible plastic packaging
  • Understanding of consumer psychology and customer buying patterns analysis
  • Candidates must be capable of working without supervision whilst achieving sales budgets
  • Honest and possess a stable employment history
  • Knowledge of extrusion and printing of flexible plastic packaging process
  • Fluent in English; Afrikaans and/or Zulu would be an added advantage
  • Ability to source business from identification to onboarding and concluding the sale independently.
  • Willingness to travel within Gauteng province and occasionally outside of the province.
  • Well-established sales representative – self-starter to hit the ground running.
  • Effective communication & presentation skills

The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:

Lead Generation:
  • Identify new customers through various channels, such as but not limited to, cold calling, networking, and online research
  • Qualify and onboard new customers
  • Generate and follow up on new sales leads and build a robust sales pipeline for the assigned territory
  • Recommend marketing strategies designed for a specific target market
Client Engagement:
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations with potential clients
  • Educating potential customers on the value proposition of the company
  • Understand client needs and recommend appropriate products or services to meet those needs
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with new customers through regular face-to-face visits, communication and follow-ups
Sales Negotiation:
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of sales agreements, ensuring a win-win situation for both the client and the company
  • Provide accurate and timely price quotations, proposals, and contracts to prospective clients
Market Research:
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market conditions
  • Analyse market data to identify new business opportunities and stay ahead of industry changes
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
  • Work closely with internal departments, such as internal sales team and product development department, to ensure seamless communication and effective problem resolution
Sales Reporting:
  • Maintain and keep detailed records of sales activities, customer interactions including action items, and transactions on a daily basis and report back to management
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports on sales performance and achievements to management
  • Document client preferences, concerns, and key information for future reference
Achievement of Sales Budgets:
  • Achieve set sales budgets as outlined by the company
  • Continuously strive to exceed sales goals and contribute to the overall growth of the organization

Call Cycle Management:
  • Develop a strategic plan for regular visits to potential/new clients
  • Create a weekly or monthly schedule outlining the timing and frequency of client calls
  • Implement a systematic approach to follow up with leads and clients at predetermined intervals
  • Gather feedback from client interactions and adjust the call cycle strategy accordingly

Salary: R30000 – R35000 per month CTC (Pension, Cell allowance, Car allowance, Car insure)
