About the Role:

A unique opportunity exists for an exceptional External Banker to join a prestigious Private Bank’s High Net Worth (HNW) International division. The role is client-focused, requiring someone who can manage and grow relationships with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, often involving complex structures, offshore arrangements, trusts, and specialised lending solutions.

This role is ideally suited to experienced bankers from peer institutions or recently qualified Chartered Accountants (0–2 years post-articles) who have rotated through corporate finance, M&A, or investment banking environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to ultra-high-net-worth clients, managing complex personal and family financial structures

  • Deliver bespoke banking solutions in collaboration with wealth, lending, and specialist finance teams

  • Manage a portfolio of clients (80% retention and growth; 20% acquisition, primarily referral-based)

  • Structure and initiate complex deals including offshore investments, trusts, and property finance

  • Network and collaborate across local and international teams to deliver best-in-class service

  • Maintain compliance within regulatory frameworks and ensure responsible banking practices

  • Represent the Private Bank brand with professionalism, charisma, and confidence

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experienced Private Banker from a reputable institution (e.g., ABSA, Nedbank, FNB, etc.) OR

  • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)), ideally 0–2 years post TOPP/SAICA programme, with corporate finance or banking exposure

  • Strong understanding of financial structuring, lending products, and personal balance sheets

  • Analytical thinker with excellent interpersonal and client engagement skills

  • Naturally inquisitive, results-driven, and comfortable working under pressure

  • Well-presented and confident, with the ability to navigate high-level discussions and build rapport with influential clients

  • In-depth understanding of deal structuring and wealth management principles

  • Strong communication, networking, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Ability to identify opportunities within complex personal and business structures
