Job Title: External Banker (Commerce) - Durban

Description of the Role

The External Banker will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing clients within the Commerce sector. The role involves proactively cross-selling the full Private Bank offerings and positioning the Investec Group to clients.

Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Minimum of 3–4 years in financial services
  • Proven track record in client service and sales

Sales Management

  • Marketing and selling all Private Banking products as per budget, with in-depth knowledge of banking products
  • Deal sourcing across all product areas in line with business strategy, including analysis of client spend behaviors
  • Achieving specified targets across activities such as Lending, Treasury, Forex, etc.
  • Presenting products and services to clients
  • Identifying client needs
  • Applying first-line credit assessments for transactional banking products
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Deal structuring
  • Driving strategic initiatives to enhance the High Net Worth client experience
  • Proactive client contact and expectation management

Client Management and Experience

  • Providing high-quality client service professionally and efficiently
  • Proactive client engagement and retention strategies
  • Facilitating connections within the Investec Group to meet client needs, such as with Capital Markets, Asset Management, Wealth & Investment
  • Presenting deals to the Credit forum

Risk Management

  • Mitigating credit risk as the first line of defense
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and confidentiality at all times
