What You’ll Be Doing

As an Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring reliable operation of your vessels:

  • Perform and oversee vessel maintenance in line with the planned maintenance schedule and budget, ensuring equipment remains in top working condition.
  • Supervise and support personnel involved in engineering tasks, ensuring all work is carried out efficiently and safely.
  • Operate winches and other machinery during operations, providing assistance to Deckhands as needed to ensure smooth and safe vessel activities.
  • Prepare maintenance and operational reports, and report defects promptly to the Master and management.
  • Ensure compliance with Svitzer’s policies, quality assurance, ISM procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in operational improvement initiatives and collaborate with local management to enhance engineering processes and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure day-to-day operations comply with all relevant environmental regulations, demonstrating Svitzer’s commitment to sustainability.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for individuals who are reliable, safety-focused, and have a true passion for the maritime industry. To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A minimum Engineer Class 3 Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
  • Statements of Attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and CPR (HLTAID001).
  • A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC (or the ability to obtain one).
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to foster strong working relationships within a team environment.
  • Effective communication through both verbal and written channels, ensuring clear and concise information is conveyed
  • A calm and clear thinker who can make good decisions under pressure, especially in challenging or emergency situations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, coupled with efficient fault-finding to address challenges effectively
  • Comfortable with technology, including basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office tools.
