Job summary

Job description

Our client in the mining industry is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Explosive

Operator to support daily site operations. The role involves handling and operating

Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs), Assisting With Plant Maintenance, And Ensuring Strict Adherence To Explosives Safety Standards And Regulatory Requirements. The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For But Not Limited To The Following:

  • Comply with all Customer rules and procedures when operating at Customer sites
  • Assist the Explosives Controller to conduct routine fault finding, trouble shooting, maintenance and repairs on the MMU process plant and chassis
  • Assist the Site Administrator with stock control
  • Load and unload the MMU with the correct raw materials
  • Unload raw materials (emulsion Matrix and Expan tankers)
  • Cleaning and decontamination of MMU.
  • Identification of any abnormal conditions on the MMU and within the work area and reporting thereof to the Explosives Controller and/or Site Supervisor
  • Maintain ownership of bulk explosives MMU by conducting good housekeeping of the cab, chassis and plant.
  • Minimize and clean up any raw material spillage and dispose of any spillage in the correct waste streams
  • Ensure correct PPE is used; is in good condition and is correctly always worn.
  • Housekeeping of work area
  • Identify workplace hazards and associated risks and deal with it appropriately (Hirac & Risk Assessment).

Requirements:

  • Must have Grade 12
  • Must have 1-2 years' experience in the mining or similar environment
  • Possession of a valid code C Driver's license (Advantageous)
  • Blasting Assistant Certificate (Advantageous)
  • Competency A Certificate (Advantageous)
  • Knowledge of relevant hand tools
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Comply to the Mine`s safety and health procedures
  • Attend to mines induction training
  • Maintain basic safety, health and environment issues
  • Assess the product application practices
  • Identify incorrect product application practices
  • Demonstrate and coach the correct practices
