Job summary

Our client, a leading construction and engineering group operating in Africa, seeks a Commercial Manager to provide governance, risk management and strategic commercial leadership across major projects in Africa.

You will lead contract governance, manage claims and variations, oversee cost control and reporting, and mentor QS teams while engaging with procurement and clients to improve project performance across a portfolio of projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proven track record in commercial governance, risk management and contract administration.
• Experience with FIDIC, NEC, GCC or similar contract forms.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial governance and contract management across multiple projects.
• Manage commercial risk, contractual compliance, claims and variations.
• Provide commercial support during tendering and project execution phases.

An established construction and engineering group operating in Africa is seeking an experienced

Commercial Manager to provide commercial leadership, risk management, contract governance, claims management, cost control and commercial strategy support across major project contracts in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial governance and contract management across multiple projects.
• Manage commercial risk, contractual compliance, claims and variations.
• Provide commercial support during tendering and project execution phases.
• Oversee cost control, forecasting, cashflow management and commercial reporting.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to Quantity Surveying teams.
• Manage subcontractor commercial performance and contractual obligations.
• Support procurement, commercial negotiations and client engagements.
• Drive commercial capability, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Extensive experience in commercial and contractual management within civil construction, mining infrastructure or engineering projects.
• Strong experience managing claims, variations, subcontractors, cost control and commercial risk.
• Advanced knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, GCC or similar contract forms.
• Strong quantity surveying, commercial reporting and contract administration experience.
• Experience leading and mentoring commercial and QS teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
