Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the FTTH / Supersonic strategy for the MTN SA group to achieve revenue targets and increase pipeline conversions.
  • Contribute to the sales business strategy to support MTNSA's overarching business goals and maintain leadership positioning.
  • Ensure effective strategy implementation through direction, frameworks, models, plans, and roadmaps aligned with group strategy.
  • Set performance standards and targets, and define performance measurement parameters.
  • Provide input for product lifecycle and management strategies in line with overall objectives.
  • Operational Delivery
  • Oversee revenue target achievement and increase profitability through strategic pricing plans.
  • Design competitive product plans aligned with the business plan.
  • Expand market share and revenue through upselling and cross-selling strategies.
  • Drive Fibre best practices, targeted propositions, and churn reduction.
  • Budget Management
  • Forecast, plan, and develop budgets ensuring ROI and seek necessary approvals.
  • Manage and optimize expenditures in line with strategic intent and budgets.
  • Reduce operational costs following a least-cost operating strategy.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, technologies, and trends.
  • Research relevant practices and incorporate them into the strategic framework.
  • Maintain understanding of related systems for integrated process development.
  • Keep updated on new products/services and their market impact.
  • Collaborate across teams for market value creation through branding.
  • Manage outsource partners to ensure SLA adherence and maximize benefits.
People & Culture Management
  • Provide guidance to staff, colleagues, partners, and vendors.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talent, including creating personal development plans.
  • Define KPAs and KPIs cascaded down to teams.
  • Manage performance and training needs.
  • Coaching and Leadership
  • Coach and guide subordinates, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Promote healthy employee relations and teamwork.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum of 4 years in a Commercial/Marketing/Business degree.
  • MBA or relevant Master's preferred.

Experience

  • Over 5 years as a junior executive or country CEO, with relevant sector experience.
  • Experience across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Proven track record in start-up, shutdown, or business improvement projects.
  • At least 10 years in management or commercial roles within telecoms or ISPs in South Africa.
  • Experience in Compliance Operations within a Telco.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and best practices implementation.
