SUMMARY :
Our client in the Engineering Consulting industry is currently seeking an Executive Manager in Transportation to join their team based in East London.
POSITION INFO :
Business Unit / Office Strategy :
- Align BU strategy with Division / Office Strategy in conjunction with Division Head.
- Ensure implementation of BU strategy.
- Coordinate and cooperate with Division Head and other Executive Managers to ensure effective project delivery and functional integration of the company.
Financial Management of Business Unit :
- Support Division Head with business development at the local level.
- Prepare tendering strategy and pricing according to Tendering Process TN_00.
- Develop BU budget in consultation with Division Head.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on project management and BU profitability to Division Head.
- Hold responsibility for BU profitability.
Human Resources Management and Administration at BU Level :
- Ensure optimal utilization of skills and expertise within the BU.
- Oversee training and mentoring of BU staff.
- Handle disciplinary matters.
- Ensure health and safety compliance.
- Coordinate timesheets.
- Monitor staff utilization.
- Conduct staff meetings.
- Manage staff training, mentoring, and expense claims.
Management of Local BU Projects (from start to finish) :
- Responsible for tender preparation and costing.
- Manage entire project lifecycle from acquisition to close-out.
- Oversee construction project management for local projects.
Project Quality Management :
- Ensure adherence to QMS and PMOG on every project.
- Immediately inform Division Head of any client complaints.
- Address client complaints promptly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance of direct reports with ISO9001:2015, BMS, and PMOG.
Technical Work :
- Keep Division Head informed of all project activities.
- Schedule and attend relevant meetings.
- Provide minutes and discuss arising issues with the Division Head.
General :
- Maintain ongoing professional development through various training and seminars as agreed with the Division Head.
Skills & Experience Required :
- BSc / BEng / BTech in Civil Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng).
- Masters degree in civil engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience at a senior level in consulting engineering.
- Proven experience in transportation engineering, geometric design, pavement engineering, traffic engineering, transportation planning, or construction monitoring.
- Experience in the Eastern Cape region and international projects is advantageous.
- Administrative and HR management experience.
- Active marketing experience.
- Strong technical skills and proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, ProMan (or similar), AutoCAD, and relevant design software.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
- Deadline-driven with a participative management style.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Willingness and ability to travel and stay away from home as required.
