Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Masters degree or equivalent in a related technical field (e.g., Built Environment such as Civil or Structural Engineering, ICT, recognized Project Management Certification).
  • A Doctoral degree is an added advantage.
  • Affiliation with a Professional body such as ECSA, SACPCMP, PMI, or other ICT-related professional bodies.
  • At least 12 years of experience, including 10 years in the Built Environment and/or Digital Technologies, with 5 years in senior/executive management roles.

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Possessing sound knowledge of ICT strategies such as 4IR technologies, ERP systems, Sustainability Management, and Project Management principles.
  • Providing strategic leadership for physical and digital infrastructure, ICT, and communication technologies.
  • Ensuring governance of the built environment, heritage sites, and maintenance strategies.
  • Monitoring ICT value propositions and proposing corrective actions for alignment with institutional goals.
  • Overseeing fit-for-purpose ICT service provision.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs):

  1. Govern & Direct the Infrastructure & Technology Portfolio: Strategic direction, policy implementation, reputation management, leadership, and monitoring strategic plans.
  2. Institutional ICT Strategic Planning: Formulation, review, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic alignment.
  3. Financial Planning & Budgeting: Long-term financial projections, resource allocation, budget approval, and financial monitoring.
  4. Organisational Leadership Management: Talent planning, leadership development, performance management, and succession planning.
  5. Strategic Relationship Development: Engaging with stakeholders, industry, and government bodies.
  6. Institutional Properties & Services Governance: Infrastructure planning, maintenance, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and resource management.
  7. Institutional ICT Governance: ICT and digital transformation planning, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and impact evaluation.
