Job summary

A leading company in the banking sector is seeking a Senior professional to lead their data and analytics initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee the development of Capital and Impairment models while optimizing processes and systems across commercial banking sectors. Qualifications

  • At least 10 years in Credit Risk management, 5 in Commercial/Corporate.
  • 8 years of solid experience in financial impairments and Capital management.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and in Credit Risk modelling required.

Job description

Senior role tasked with leading data and analytics in order to support business, enabling analytics and development of Capital and Impairment models and driving process and systems optimisation.

Managing and analysing complex financial data within the commercial banking portfolios.

Credit Management and related operational support through analytics.

Job Responsibilities
  • Data sourcing and provisioning for use in analytics, model development and process optimisation. Support model building capabilities and actively participate in model discussion with relevant stakeholders.
  • Data remediation - Reconstruct and optimise BCB data landscape and enhance related operational processes impacting data quality.
  • Co-owner of Enterprise data and model landscape from an BCB perspective.
  • Impairments and Capital Management - execution of Capital and Impairments model runs and related processes. Produce analytics and reports of highest quality to the relevant forums and committees. Audit support.
  • Ownership of model implementation and changes.
  • Support frontline operations (credit) through a team of credit/risk/quantitative analysts.
  • Regulatory (IFRS/AIRB/RDARR) compliance.
  • Effective and active participation in credit risk forum, including being part of quorum where applicable.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team; retention of critical staff. Establish a culture of improvement through active talent management.
  • Vendor management where applicable.

  • Lead initiatives to reconstruct data warehouses and enhance operational processes for improved efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve existing issues while driving innovative solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Implement new systems and achieving target state objectives, with a strategic vision for future growth.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to legal standards, banking regulations and compliance requirements
  • Engage with stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams to achieve strategic goals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Present complex information to senior stakeholders.
  • Establish and develop young/inexperienced talent.Drive execution and lead change.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Preferred Qualification

Quantitative qualification – honours or higher.

CFA/MBA will be an advantage.

Minimum Experience Level
  • At least 10 years in Credit Risk management in a systemically important bank, of which at least 5 years should be in Commercial or Corporate
  • 8 years of in-depth knowledge and solid understanding of financial impairments and Capital management
  • Proven track record in data, systems and process optimisation and automation
  • At least 5 years of
    • Managing diverse teams
    • Credit Risk modelling
  • Project management experience will be advantageous.
