Job Title : Events Coordinator (Account Manager in Training)

Location : Johannesburg, South Africa (Remote-based, with travel across Africa)

Reports to : Senior Account Manager / Managing Director

Type : Full-time, Remote (with in-person travel 2–3 times per month)

The Role

They are looking for a driven and highly organised Events Coordinator who will be trained to step into an Account Manager role over time.

This is a career-development opportunity for someone ready to grow into a client-facing leadership position. You'll be at the heart of fast-paced, multi-stakeholder projects across the continent, leading the planning and execution of events while managing suppliers, clients, and internal departments.

You'll learn how to own client relationships, shape strategies, and ultimately run full project accounts.

What You'll Do
  • Project & Event Coordination
  • Manage day-to-day event logistics from concept to delivery across multiple countries
  • Break down complex projects into detailed task lists, timelines, and workflows
  • Build and maintain Gantt charts and project trackers to align all stakeholders
  • Work across internal teams (creative, content, production) to keep deliverables on track
  • Stakeholder & Supplier Management
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage local suppliers and venues across African markets
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution
  • Manage budgets, invoicing, and documentation for all event projects
  • Client Engagement
  • Attend client meetings and virtual calls; take clear actions and follow-ups
  • Respond to client requests with clarity, professionalism, and urgency
  • Support senior team members in preparing pitches, presentations, and reports
  • Account Management Development
  • Shadow senior account leads to learn how to manage long-term client relationships
  • Take on progressively more responsibility for client strategy and delivery
  • Eventually lead client accounts, supported by junior coordinators
