About the Role

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Estate Manager plays a key role in ensuring that Redhill School’s campus is maintained to the highest standard. This includes supervising maintenance teams, managing building and grounds upkeep, coordinating renovations and upgrades, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

The Estate Manager will work closely with contractors, service providers, and internal teams to deliver a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment that supports the school’s academic and co-curricular programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the maintenance team responsible for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and repairs of school facilities, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance plans and respond to urgent repair needs.
  • Monitor and maintain school infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure the effective upkeep of gardens, sports fields, and outdoor spaces.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, ensuring work meets quality and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and safety checks.
  • Implement and uphold health, safety, and environmental compliance across all areas.
  • Monitor budgets related to maintenance and estate management, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events and functions.
  • Manage internal transport requirements.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
  • A relevant qualification in Facilities Management, Estate Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estate, facilities, or property management.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, grounds maintenance, and general repair work.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication abilities for liaising with staff, students, and contractors.
