Job Title : Junior Equity Dealer
About the Company : Our client, a leading financial institution, is looking to hire a Junior Equity Dealer to join their dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities :
- Equity & Derivatives Trading (80%) : Execute equity and derivatives trades, ensuring best execution by minimizing slippage and transaction costs. Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to confirm trade instructions and ensure alignment with investment strategies. Work with brokers to execute trade instructions and monitor market movements. Trade international markets outside of South African hours, managing global trading operations. Adhere to internal trading limits, risk management guidelines, and compliance protocols.
- Trading Administration (20%) : Coordinate with back-office and prime brokers for timely trade settlement and operational efficiency. Send daily trade reports, update open orders, and manage Portfolio Manager instructions. Maintain brokerage rates, portfolio SSIs, and ensure compliance with insider trading and PA trading policies.
- Portfolio & Risk Analytics : Assist in evaluating portfolio performance using metrics such as Sharpe ratio, VaR, and tracking error. Support the creation of risk models to mitigate market, credit, and liquidity risks. Contribute to performance reporting, attribution, and develop dashboards for stakeholders.
- Technology & Automation : Explore and implement new cloud computing and AI tools to enhance data analysis. Automate data processing tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements :
- Education : Relevant graduate and postgraduate qualifications. JSE Equity Trader exams. CFA Level 1 qualification is advantageous. Registered Persons Exams.
- Experience : 2-5 years in institutional buy or sell-side trading, preferably in equities and derivatives. Experience in trading administration is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make quick, informed decisions. Proficiency in Bloomberg and MS Excel; coding in VBA, R, or Python is a plus. Strong ethics, professionalism, and knowledge of risk management and compliance. Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
