Job summary

Scatec in Cape Town is seeking an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Specialist to establish and manage its centralised EPR compliance framework in South Africa. You will help ensure compliance with the Waste Act and EPR regulations, and track products from market entry to end-of-life across departments.

You will consolidate data from Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Environmental and Finance to deliver auditable EPR reporting, maintain registers, and support regulatory deadlines while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Environmental Management, Law or a related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in data-intensive reporting, compliance, or ESG/EPR-related roles.
• Strong data management skills and advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience designing or improving systems and processes across multiple business functions.
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational controls.
• Analytical mindset, financial acumen and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, including experience with government authorities.
• Ability to work independently and across functions under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead Scatec’s compliance with Waste Act and EPR requirements and translate obligations into operational controls.
• Establish and manage a centralised system to track imported products across their lifecycle.
• Consolidate and validate data from Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Environmental and Finance for EPR reporting.
• Maintain auditable registers of imported equipment, packaging, batteries and lighting waste streams.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports in line with government requirements and deadlines.
• Evaluate PRO participation or internal compliance structures.
• Assess tracking processes for gaps and implement improved controls.
• Support budgeting, fee forecasting, audits and governance related to EPR obligations.
