A renewable energy solutions provider in Cape Town is seeking an experienced EPC Procurement Manager to manage the sourcing of contractors for large-scale renewable projects. Our client is seeking a seasoned EPC Procurement Manager to manage the end-to-end sourcing of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractors for utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, or Battery Energy Storage projects. In this role, you will champion strategic sourcing, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and relevant regulations, all while securing best-value solutions for the business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Construction, Legal, Sustainability, Operations & Maintenance) to develop comprehensive RFPs, evaluate proposals, and transition contracts seamlessly into the execution phase. This position reports to the Head of Engineering and Procurement.
EPC Contractor Sourcing & Selection
Design and maintain a detailed procurement roadmap from requirements definition through to contract award, sharing updates with stakeholders as needed.
Lead the RFP kick-off workshop, collate input from internal teams, and oversee the creation and distribution of all solicitation documents.
Define clear, transparent evaluation criteria in collaboration with project engineers and relevant departments.
Facilitate bidder queries, manage the clarification process, and steer the commercial and technical adjudication phases.
Prepare comparative analyses of bids, shortlist preferred contractors, and negotiate terms to final signature.
Capture and disseminate lessons learned to refine future procurement cycles.
Supplier Engagement & Relationship Management
Proactively identify, qualify, and maintain a database of potential EPC contractors and service providers.
Establish and nurture ongoing relationships, ensuring suppliers are aware of project pipelines and strategic priorities.
Coordinate regular touchpoints (inviting key internal stakeholders) to align on upcoming opportunities and performance expectations.
Documentation, Handover & Reporting
Create and govern a centralized repository for all procurement records, ensuring easy retrieval and auditability.
Accurately log all supplier correspondence and contractual documents.
Upon contract award, hand over the complete dossier to the Construction Division and remain available for clarifications.
Develop and update a pricing benchmark database to inform future negotiations.
Produce and deliver weekly procurement status reports and, where required, present updates to the Investment Committee.
Identify and escalate project risks early, collaborating with stakeholders to mitigate impacts.
Additional Procurement Activities
Lead consultant procurement for design and engineering services.
Partner with the Group Technical Advisor and project engineering teams to align technical and commercial objectives.
Monitor contractor performance during execution, gathering feedback to inform continuous improvement in subsequent procurement processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.
5–10 years’ experience managing power-generation or renewable-energy projects, with at least 3 years focused on on-site procurement activities.
Demonstrated track record of leading complex EPC procurements and supplier negotiations.
Strong negotiation, stakeholder-management, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with project-management and procurement software tools.
Solid understanding of relevant legislation, corporate policies, and industry standards.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and supplier performance metrics.
Excellent verbal and written communication, with a proactive approach to risk management.
