Environmental Officer

Our client based in Ogies Mpumalanga is looking for an Environmental Officer to join their team.

Please note that this is a contract position.

The purpose of this role is to execute environmental assessments, inspections, monitoring, and interrogation of the monitoring results in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements. Report on any deviations or opportunities identified. Assist with the preparation of reports, the analysis of data, and engaging authorities and service providers.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

1. MSc Experience or Honours / BSc / BTech in Natural / Environmental Science or related field
2. Computer literacy in MS Office
3. In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

EXPERIENCE

1. At least 3-5 years internship or similar relevant experience in environmental management
2. Knowledge of the OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act
3. Introduction to ISO 14001
4. Introduction to Project Management
5. Introduction to Environmental Law
6. Understanding of local environmental-related legislation and reporting requirements for both company and local needs
7. Understanding of environmental challenges in the coal mining industry
8. In-depth understanding and application of environmental management systems (ISO)
9. Knowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects

Education

MSc Experience or Honours / BSc / BTech in Natural / Environmental Science or related field
