Responsibilities
Track sales and ensure the correct stock is ordered to meet customer requirements and increase profits.
Minimise out-of-stock and overstock to ensure fresh merchandise and limit overspending.
Schedule blockmen, engage in specialised skills training, and delegate work to use talents and abilities to increase production capability.
Execute localised merchandising plans and follow marketing initiatives to ensure the department achieves profits.
Control department expenses by enhancing operations, meet budgeted goals and control shrinkage.
Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
Ensure staff adherence to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Oversee and manage incoming orders.
Determine butchery areas for improvement and institute changes to address concerns.
Manage staff leave and off days as well as performance and discipline.
Assign duties to enhance productivity.
Implement specials and new products to expand market share.
Build on existing lines and promotions.
Ensure a competitive product offering by reviewing products offered by other retailers and creating new products.
Compare prices from various suppliers and negotiate best prices to increase profitability.
Ensure regular block tests are performed to report on yield and maintain supplier records accordingly.
Manage the maintenance of all machinery including but not limited to repairs and services.
Ensure that waste is minimised.
Prepare and execute marketing strategies to increase market share.
Prepare and submit weekly reports on department performance including efficiencies, barriers to performance/profitability, successes and future planning.
Qualifications
At least 5 years experience in a Regional Butchery Manager Role.
