Environmental Manager (JB5173) Chintsa, Eastern Cape R40 – 45 000 CTC per month 3-year Fixed Term Contract
Seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee all environmental compliance and sustainability aspects of the RDP housing and clinic construction project in Chintsa, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will ensure that the project adheres to environmental regulations, conducts impact assessments, and implements mitigation measures to minimize environmental risks. Candidates that meet all requirements and are available to start by no later than 20 March 2025 are invited to apply.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental management within public sector building and infrastructure projects.
Registered with SACNASP as a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat.) or EAPASA as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP).
Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and compliance monitoring.
Must have led at least one full Scoping/Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and completed at least three Basic Assessments for public sector buildings and/or infrastructure delivery projects.
Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies, sustainability strategies, and risk management.
Experience working with government departments, regulatory bodies, and local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all environmental works related to the construction of RDP houses and clinics.
Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and Basic Assessments (BA) in compliance with regulatory frameworks.
Ensure adherence to environmental laws, regulations, and municipal requirements.
Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMP) for the project.
Identify and assess environmental risks, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
Liaise with government authorities, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders.
Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to project management teams.
Promote sustainable construction practices and monitor environmental performance.
