The role involves developing communication strategies to enhance visitor experiences at the Kwa-Zulu Natal Botanical Garden, requiring strong qualifications in Nature Conservation, Horticulture, or related fields.
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking a self-motivated individual to manage, maintain, develop, and implement interpretation programs, with emphasis on horticulture, botany, conservation, the natural environment, history, and education.
The role involves researching, developing, and implementing engaging and educational communication strategies to showcase the themes of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Botanical Garden, the Institute, and various themed gardens, enhancing visitor experience and reflecting positively on the Garden.
Qualifications required include a National Diploma in Nature Conservation, Horticulture, Natural Science, Botany, or an equivalent qualification at NQF 6.
An NQF 7 qualification (Degree or equivalent) is advantageous.
Candidates should have at least 4 years of relevant experience with a National Diploma or 2 years with an NQF 7 qualification.
Essential competencies include knowledge of ecology, biodiversity, indigenous flora and fauna, environmental management practices, and proficiency in English and / or indigenous languages.
Computer literacy in MS Office, and proficiency in design software such as CorelDraw, are preferred.
A valid driver's license with at least one year of driving experience and willingness to travel are required.
Key responsibilities include promoting the Garden's indigenous biodiversity, interpreting garden features through planning and research, facilitating visitor services, conducting garden-related responsibilities, and maintaining interpretation infrastructure.
