Title : EHS Manager

The role
- The position provides leadership and technical expertise to achieve EHS legal compliance and corporate goals for EHS performance. Ensures compliance with EHS policies and applicable regulations through partnership with all functions & local management in SA.
- Develops and delivers effective global and local policies, procedures, auditing, training, communications, and educational materials to promote understanding, appreciation, and adherence to safe operating practices throughout the workplace, ensuring compliance with Kellanova standards and government regulations.
Location of the role
The position is full-time at Kellanova Springs plant. One day a month requires travel to the Head office in Woodmead for EHS responsibilities to ensure compliance.Brief overview of the team

Strategic Management
- Develop and lead plant-specific environmental, health, and safety strategies to meet key performance goals.
- Set and manage budgets.
- Prioritize environmental, health, and safety plan requirements for SA.
EHS Management
- Lead the EHS team to ensure compliance with legal, global, and site policies.
- Develop and review policies to ensure comprehensive environmental, health, and safety services.
- Drive the EHS Centre of Excellence (COE) to advance the KWS journey at Springs.
- Support all KWS Pillars in all elements.
- Prepare for and manage all relevant global and external audits, implementing recommendations.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Provide leadership to manufacturing, maintenance, quality, R&D, planning, and project teams.
- Investigate environmental incidents, accidents, hazards, and risks, recommending preventative measures.
- Research best practices in safety systems and recommend improvements.
- Implement and track recommendations.
- Assess training needs and liaise with relevant teams for implementation.
- Manage developments to management systems to align with business objectives.
- Optimize resources and reduce costs.
- Support regional EHS audits and global programs.
- Develop EHS strategy and budget plans.
- Manage contracts related to EHS functions.
- Investigate incidents, ensure reporting compliance, and maintain records.
- Handle environmental metrics and regulatory reporting.
- Respond to external stakeholder concerns regarding environmental issues.
- Implement initiatives to reduce energy, water usage, emissions, and waste.
- Represent Kellogg in external forums and maintain fire safety arrangements.
Security Management
- Participate in regional security efforts as Business Security Coordinator.
- Manage security contracting teams and ensure compliance with standards.
- Assess risks and implement preventive systems.
- Conduct security assessments and training, analyze incidents, and lead security meetings.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with South Africa legislation and global policies.
- Participate in incident management teams.
People Management
- Manage labor relations, resolve employee issues, and oversee disciplinary procedures.
- Manage performance and develop succession plans.
- Plan employee training and development programs.
Candidate profile
Education & experience
A relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years management experience in FMCG.
Qualifications and skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results-oriented with strong planning, decision-making, and customer focus.
- Leadership, training, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and operate within a matrix structure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge
- MS Excel and PowerPoint in-depth knowledge.
- Understanding of continuous improvement practices.
- Knowledge of security standards, fire safety, and FMCG industry standards.
