Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment seeks an experienced Environmental Compliance Officer to support environmental compliance across a private nature reserve in South Africa. The role interfaces with management, landowners, lodge operators and contractors to ensure activities comply with environmental laws and approved programmes.

Candidates should have 2–5 years in environmental compliance, familiarity with EIAs, EMPrs, and waste management, and be willing to travel to remote field locations.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental field with relevant post-qualifications.
• 2–5 years of environmental compliance experience.
• Experience with authorisations, EIAs, EMPrs and waste management.
• Knowledge of SA environmental legislation (NEMA, NEMBA, NEMWA, Water Act).

Responsibilities

• Assess activities against environmental legislation and provide compliance guidance.
• Maintain central registers of authorisations, EIAs and management programmes.
• Review EIAs as an interested and affected party.
• Screen proposed developments and advise on further assessment or approvals.
• Ensure environmental approvals are in place before construction.
• Inspect lodges, sites and contractors for compliance and report findings.
