Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Chemical Engineer focused on environmental compliance and sustainability within its Randburg operations. You will monitor environmental performance and ensure processes meet regulatory requirements and company policies.

The role involves waste management, incident investigation, and liaison with regulatory agencies. A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering and at least four years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in environmental engineering or compliance in an industrial setting.
• Thorough understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes and reporting requirements.
• Experience with waste management, air pollution control, and water treatment technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to environmental issues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills for reporting and training in Randburg.

Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental compliance for chemical operations, including emissions, wastewater, and waste disposal.
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce waste generation and improve resource efficiency.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and process modifications.
• Ensure adherence to local and national environmental regulations and permits.
• Investigate environmental incidents and develop corrective action plans.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders on environmental matters.
