Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join their Port Elizabeth team on a hybrid basis. You will create 3D models and 2D drawings under senior engineers, while contributing to BOMs and documentation for changes.

The role offers mentorship, training, and exposure to multiple product development projects in a supportive environment. An early-career professional can grow technical skills and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in mechanical design or drafting with CAD.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or another major CAD package.

Responsibilities

• Create and update 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Assist senior engineers in design and development of parts and assemblies.
• Prepare BOMs and ensure accurate documentation for changes.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate manufacturability concepts.
• Support prototype development and testing, documenting results.
• Maintain and organize design data and engineering documents.
