Job summary

IQ Business Group is seeking a Data Architect in Johannesburg to define and maintain fit-for-purpose data architecture across priority systems. You will deliver governed, reusable data outcomes with traceability and governance controls to support current delivery and target modern data architecture.

The role focuses on discovery, modelling (conceptual to physical), data flows, data ownership and governance, aligning with enterprise standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in information systems, computer science, data management or a related discipline.
• Experience with data architecture, modelling in a complex enterprise.
• Familiarity with SAP PowerDesigner and ARIS is advantageous.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, quality and security obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture discovery for assigned systems or domains; define scope, dependencies and decisions.
• Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to enterprise standards.
• Design and review data flows, source-to-target mappings, lineage and data ownership; ensure governance.
• Define architecture patterns for ingestion, transformation, data layers, metadata and sharing; ensure security/privacy alignment.
• Facilitate architecture reviews and document decisions, risks and actions.
