Job summary

WENZ in Cape Town is seeking a Software Developer to help build out our microservices architecture and backend APIs that power our retail communications platform. You will work with product owners, analysts, and senior developers to deliver high-performance enterprise-grade software.

The role involves designing features, writing robust code, unit and integration tests, and improving system performance using RESTful services in Go/Scala/Java/C++.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional development experience.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms is a must.
• Strong software design skills and ability to work across multiple languages.
• Proficiency in Go, Scala, Java or C++ is beneficial.
• Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle is desired.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and design new features.
• Write robust, maintainable code and tests.
• Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests for components.
• Ensure build automation scripts are in place.
• Improve performance of existing systems.
• Mentor other developers and deliver features on time.
• Drive innovation in the tech stack and collaborate with stakeholders.
