SUMMARY :

Enrolled Nurse Assistants

POSITION INFO :

The successful candidate will work on a one-to-one basis with patients either in the comfort of their homes or in a facility. Minimum requirements to apply for this position include:

  • Being part of a multidisciplinary team, with duties revolving around caring for patients such as:
  • Adults and Children with Tracheostomies connected to ventilators
  • Elderly patients with a focus on Dementia and Alzheimer’s care
  • Quadriplegic patients with PEG Tubes
  • Palliative patients at the end of life

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing basic care and assisting with personal hygiene (washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, moving, toileting)
  • Administering medications under supervision of a registered nurse or family
  • Documenting patient’s condition and progress
  • Supporting activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs
  • Performing basic wound care
  • Managing feeds for tracheostomy babies using a feeding pump
  • Observing changes in patient condition and recording in daily reports
  • Writing reports in clear English
  • Assessing sleep routines and adjusting care plans accordingly in discussion with the registered nurse

Skills required:

  • Understanding treatment plans set by the healthcare team
  • Good communication skills with team members, patients, and families
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures in a home setting
  • Knowledge of Geriatric, Paediatric, Dementia, Post-Stroke, and Ventilation care
  • Knowledge of catheter care (indwelling, suprapubic, intermittent)
  • Knowledge of pressure sore prevention in bedridden patients
  • Experience with tracheostomy and PEG patients, including suctioning
  • Infection prevention knowledge
