Qualifications

  • Certification as an Enrolled Nurse and current SANC registration required.
  • Experience in primary health care and community settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health talks and maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Participate in performance reviews and advocate for health care rights.

Skills

Knowledge of basic TB, HIV & STI management

Duration: Immediate until 28 th of February 2025

Reporting to: Clinical Manager

Organisational Background

Centre for Community Impact (CCI) is a non-profit South African organisation based in Pretoria. We aim to be a centre of excellence in strategic health and development communication programs that are centred around meaningful Community Engagement.

Position Summary

Effective provision of Biomedical Services for the Adolescents and Young People (AYP) Programme.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide Sexual and Reproductive Health, and HIV Testing Services.
  • Facilitate PrEP & PEP ART initiation.
  • Support initiation of ART and track results.
  • Provide contraception and pregnancy testing.
  • Screen all patients for TB, HIV, and STI.
  • Conduct health talks on HIV, STI and TB.
  • Update client records with laboratory results.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of records and communications and disclose appropriately as permitted by law.
  • Develop weekly and monthly plans accordingly.
  • Participate in the facility/ organization’s weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly performance review
  • Understand and advocate for AYP’s right to health care services.
  • Be flexible to work on weekends.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Certification as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive.
  • Experience in primary health care facilities and AYP in a community setting is preferable.
  • Experience in working with key populations will be an added advantage.

Required skills and competencies

  • Knowledge of basic TB, HIV & STI management.
  • Work experience in HIV and TB programme implementation.
  • Experience in health promotion and health education.
  • Good understanding of the South African public health national and provincial policies.
  • Solid experience in and knowledge of partnering with multiple stakeholders.
  • Previous work experience in NGOs or donor-funded programmes will be an advantage.
  • Computer literacy and competence in Microsoft software (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of HIV strategies, including the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, and TB management.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, Sesotho, and/or another South African language.
  • Willing to travel and do work after normal working hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Collect accurate programme data, keep accurate records and compile quality and credible report.
