English Teacher

Bridge House is an independent, co-ed day and boarding school situated close to Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl in the Western Cape.

The school is seeking to appoint a:

Starting Date: 1 January

The successful candidate will:

1. Have the ability to connect with children.
2. Be passionate about teaching English Home Language and have an active interest in innovative approaches to the teaching and learning of the subject.
3. Be naturally curious and an avid reader.
4. Have the necessary qualifications and experience to teach the IEB English Home Language curriculum to Grade 12 level – this is a minimum requirement of this position.
5. Having marked Matric IEB examinations will be advantageous to the application.
6. Be willing to teach Further Studies English.
7. While not a requirement, this will be an added advantage to the application.
8. Have excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills – and be a collaborative team player.
9. Embrace technology to significantly enhance the learning experience.
10. Encourage student participation in Olympiads and competitions and be able to offer extension for these students.
11. Continue to drive Bridge House as a centre for English excellence and development in the Western Cape.
12. Be willing to participate fully in the life of the school and extracurricular activities.
