Job summary

ATNS SOC Limited seeks a candidate to provide support and maintenance of Satellite Communications Systems within South Africa and the region. You will perform maintenance on satellite equipment, ensure compliance with standards, and uphold SLAs while developing core competencies in system restoration and fault diagnosis.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or equivalent.
• Engineering Council of SA registration as Technician/Technologist is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years in Satellite communications systems maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge: electronics, data processing, digital/analogue techniques, IT basics, computer networking, RF transmission & communications, data communications, and electronic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all maintenance activities on satellite communications equipment and systems as per the Logistic Support Plan, station instructions, and equipment manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintain mast, satellite dish, LNB, communications, transmitter, receiver, control and processing equipment per the LSP.
• Ensure power from supply point meets applicable standards.
• Comply with Service Level Agreements.
• Attain relevant equipment competencies as per system requirements.
• Perform I-level corrective fault diagnosis down to line replacement module level.
• Perform I-level corrective maintenance via line module replacement.
• Perform O-level restoration of service via reconfiguration or changeover using supervisor positions and monitoring/maintenance systems.
• Perform D-level corrective maintenance where applicable per policy.
• Ensure compliance with ATNS ISO 9002 procedures.
• Comply with ATNS OH&S plan and in-country legislation.
• Comply with ATNS stores and transport procedures.

• Perform all relevant maintenance activities on satellite communications equipment and systems as per the relevant Logistic Support Plan, station instructions and equipment manufacturer recommendations
• Ensure that maintenance to masts, satellite dish, LNB, communications, transmitter, receiver, control and processing equipment is carried out according to relevant LSP
• Power from point of supply is maintained to applicable standards
• Compliance to Service Level Agreements
• Ensure that the relevant equipment competencies are attained as per system requirements
• Perform “I” level corrective fault diagnosis down to line replacement module level
• Perform “I” level corrective maintenance through line module replacement
• Perform “O” level restoration of service by reconfiguration and/or changeover by means of supervisor positions and remote control, monitoring and maintenance systems.
• Perform “D” level corrective maintenance where applicable as per support policy
• Ensure compliance with ATNS ISO 9002 procedures
• Comply with the ATNS OH&S plan as well as other applicable in country legislation

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or equivalent qualification
• Appropriate qualifications required to enable admittance to the Engineering Council of SA as an Engineering Technician or Technologist (Advantageous)
• Minimum 2 years in Satellite communications systems maintenance
