What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and talented Engineering Technician to join our team. He/she must be able blend of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills, enabling them to support engineers in various technical tasks, from design and development to maintenance and troubleshooting.

What do we expect from the candidate?

The candidate will be part of our Engineering team and reporting to the Head of Sales. The objective of this position is to support engineers by applying technical knowledge and practical skills to design, develop, test, and maintain engineering projects and systems.

The Key Responsibilities

1. Target new sales opportunities for engineering sales and report on progress within required time frame.
2. Assist sales team and management with quotations, installations and general enquiries.
3. Survey new/existing sites and prepare proposals/quotations.
4. Follow up on proposals to ensure conversion to sales.
5. Service engineering requirements of water management clients as required in a professional manner.
6. Foster strong relationships with key personnel on various sites.
7. Deal with Engineering Service Providers and Product Suppliers to timeously get quotes on equipment when required and forward these to Sales Representatives.
8. Quality control all incoming engineering related equipment to ensure delivered equipment meets customer specification before despatch to customer.
9. Follow up in conjunction with Debtors Department the payment of services/equipment rendered within the specified payment term.
10. Manage interface with external engineering service providers on site when these are used to ensure agreed upon scope of work is met.
11. Function as the custodian of the Engineering Requisition system to ensure all work is pre-approved and planned in the most efficient manner.
12. Manage the inventory and housekeeping in the engineering Store.
13. Ensure all sites comply with Health, Safety and Quality requirements of Company.

If you possess…
Must-Have (Requirement)

1. B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related trade qualification.
2. Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the water treatment industry/mining.

Nice-to-Have

1. Thorough, accurate and detail focused.
2. Strong relationship builder.
3. Self-disciplined.
4. Presentable with good communication skills.
