Job description

Job Purpose

Execute maintenance activities in the plant to ensure minimal breakdowns and maximum efficiency, following safety and GMP standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Schedule and execute maintenance/modification activities and update related documentation.
  • Cater to machine and facility maintenance requirements of the block.
  • Prepare and submit shift engineer reports for smooth shift handovers.
  • Follow good engineering practices during planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
  • Execute CAPA on deviations with QA and section heads.
  • Maintain engineering documents in accordance with cGMP and good engineering practices.
  • Procure, inspect, and maintain materials from the engineering store.
  • Execute breakdown and scheduled work to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain critical spares inventory to reduce resolution time.
  • Implement PPM as per schedule to prevent breakdowns.
  • Track and receipt job cards for breakdown activities.
  • Implement new technologies initiated by management.
  • Attend training sessions and apply learnings to improve machine performance.
  • Implement and close ideas from internal audits and idea generation sessions.
  • Monitor energy use and report areas for conservation.
  • Implement energy conservation activities to improve equipment efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Identify areas for waste reduction and work simplification.
  • Manage activities within budget to reduce operating expenses.
  • Verify contract invoices and prepare job orders based on estimates.
  • Issue work permits to contractual staff, ensuring safety and hazard communication.
  • Monitor safe operation of machines and report deviations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and implement safety actions.
  • Maintain safety permit procedures.
  • Issue materials to contractors and record transactions in SAP.
  • Maintain critical spares and consumables inventory, monitor usage and stock levels.
  • Assess log book requirements, request QA, and issue documents timely.
  • Classify and reuse scrap materials where possible.
Educational Qualifications

Graduate Engineer or Diploma in Engineering.

Relevant Experience

2 to 5 years in Pharma/API industry (maintenance and projects). Awareness of utility and process equipment maintenance, energy conservation, industrial automation, cGMP, and good engineering practices. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience. Computer literacy required, preferably with AutoCAD.
