Company Description

We have an exciting position for an Engineering Specialist Production. This is a 2.9.2 appointment under the MHS Act, responsible for providing operational services to the Workshops Resident Engineer, with a planning horizon of one year. The role ensures effective and safe manufacturing and maintenance of mining and engineering equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Planning budgets up to 1-2 years ahead based on maintenance schedules and operational targets.
  2. Liaising with the Resident Engineer on progress, plans, budgets, and resources.
  3. Reviewing operational plans and adjusting targets for subordinates.
  4. Communicating progress against operational targets regularly.
  5. Monitoring performance, standards, and providing feedback on labour, equipment, and process efficiencies.
  6. Overseeing workmanship quality through regular inspections.
  7. Scheduling daily, weekly, and monthly work and setting priorities.
  8. Allocating labor and equipment to meet scheduled and priority activities.
  9. Establishing procedures for non-standard work requirements.
  10. Maintaining accurate labor records and ensuring legal compliance.
  11. Preparing reports for management and other stakeholders.
  12. Completing audit administration and ensuring engineering administrative compliance.
  13. Ensuring technical data accuracy.
  14. Collaborating with other engineering specialists and foremen to proactively address overlapping issues.
  15. Executing work instructions from senior team members.
  16. Fostering a cooperative team environment.
  17. Identifying operational priorities to optimize section performance.
  18. Monitoring logistics to identify risks and schedule remedies.
  19. Ensuring data accuracy in operational and technical systems.
  20. Reviewing data to identify trends and generate management reports.
  21. Adhering to safety, engineering, and environmental policies.
  22. This role reports to the Section Engineering Manager at a Band 6 level.

    Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Trade qualification
  • Foreman Certificate
  • Engineering Specialist courses (advantageous)

Experience:

  • At least 5 years as an Engineering Foreman
  • Experience in warranty management
  • Knowledge in manufacturing processes (platework, machining, fitting)
  • Understanding of QAQC, mechanical and structural drawings
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Experience in a service environment
  • Proficiency in English
  • Valid driver’s license (Code 08)
